A Ledger for Life

Every few years, a finance app shuts down, changes owners, or pivots — and takes your history with it. Export what you can, mourn the rest, start over in the next app. Most people repeat this cycle their entire adult life. Firela exists to end that cycle. Firela is a ledger for life — your financial data never leaves your hand.

Apps die. Plain text doesn’t.

Your ledger in Firela is a beancount plain-text file:
That file is human-readable, auditable, and openable thirty years from now — by you, by your accountant, by software that hasn’t been written yet. It doesn’t need Firela to survive. An App is a window; the ledger is the building. Windows get replaced. Buildings stand.

One book, your whole life

Life spans cities, banks, and currencies. Firela parses statements from multiple regions into the same continuous ledger:
  • China — Alipay, CCB debit, CMBC credit
  • Europe — Deutsche Bank, Degiro, Interactive Brokers
  • Hong Kong — HSBC
Move from Shanghai to Berlin, switch banks, change jobs — it’s still one book. A ledger you can actually keep for life has to survive every one of those transitions without fragmenting.

The cloud sees the ledger. It never sees you.

Your data rests on a zero-tracking base. The cloud sees your ledger through a token — a key to the books, not to you. No account tied to your identity, no profile assembled from your spending.

A ledger for life

  • Durable — plain text outlives every vendor, including us
  • Complete — one continuous book across regions and life stages
  • Yours — the cloud sees the books, never you
